Men who commit violent crimes against women are getting away with it.

If a woman has been raped or sexually assaulted it is a trauma that remains with them for the rest of their life. They relive it as memories are sparked and their dreams turn into nightmares.

Seeing justice done and the perpetrator punished is a huge step towards recovery.

Currently, there is a five year backlog in the court system current backlog in the court system.

The long timelines often sees the perpetrator carrying on with their lives.

There is now a track record of when there are years of wait for a court hearing details of a case are undermined, lost or forgotten, and vital witnesses can disappear , forget details or experience pressure to withdraw.

Inevitably, some women lose the strength or confidence to keep going on. Justice is not being served, and we have a system that is letting violent men get away with horrific crimes.

I have joined other women MPs calling for the broken system to be mended. This cannot wait any longer.

๐Ÿš† Good news for our local railway! Network Rail is starting a new study of the Robin Hood Line, which runs from Worksop to Nottingham.

๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ The study will look at the railway and see what is working well, what problems there might be, and what chances there are to improve things in the future. This includes both the tracks and stations, as well as the train services people use every day.

๐Ÿ“Š These results will help with long-term planning for the line. This means helping to make sure the railway is fit for the future and can better serve our communities in the years ahead.

๐Ÿ’ฌ I want to hear your views. Are there any rail issues, ideas, or improvements you think should be looked at as part of this study? Please share your thoughts with me at [email protected]

๐ŸŒOn International Womenโ€™s Day, we celebrate and thank the women who have helped change our world for the better.

๐ŸกLocally, our own Fran Walker was recently given the British Empire Medal for her work helping young people and leading efforts to protect and restore the Priory Gatehouse in Worksop.

๐Ÿ’œ Every day, women make a difference in our communities. They care for families, help others, lead projects, teach, volunteer, and work hard to make life better for the people around them. Today is a chance to say thank you for all that they do.

Today we pause for the COVID-19 Day of Reflection.๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’›We remember the people who lost their lives, the families whose lives changed forever, and the communities that helped each other through a very hard time. We think about those who could not say goodbye to loved ones, and those who are still living with loss and sadness.

๐Ÿ‘ We also remember the kindness we saw during the pandemic. Doctors, nurses, carers, volunteers, key workers, neighbours, friends, and families all stepped up to help others when it mattered most.

๐Ÿค Today, take a moment to remember those affected. You might light a candle, share a memory, check in on someone who may be struggling, or simply take a quiet moment to think.

Together we remember. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ
